Notes |
The beginning of this sacramentary can be found under the shelfmark Paris, BnF, Lat. 894, fols 45–50. Interestingly, the mass for Saint Samson of Dol at fols 32v-33v describes the saint as follows (33ra): patroni nostri sancti Samsoni episcopi iuri in occidiis partibus. As is pointed out in Duine 1922: 33, this MS 'devait servir à une église dans laquelle, par la suite d'une translation de reliques, le saint de Dol était honoré d'un culte particulier.' A Breton origin is therefore very likely. Moreover, this MS presents Breton neumatic notation (Huglo 1963: 67). |
