Connection with Brittany
Notes

The beginning of this sacramentary can be found under the shelfmark Paris, BnF, Lat. 894, fols 45–50. Interestingly, the mass for Saint Samson of Dol at fols 32v-33v describes the saint as follows (33ra): patroni nostri sancti Samsoni episcopi iuri in occidiis partibus. As is pointed out in Duine 1922: 33, this MS 'devait servir à une église dans laquelle, par la suite d'une translation de reliques, le saint de Dol était honoré d'un culte particulier.' A Breton origin is therefore very likely. Moreover, this MS presents Breton neumatic notation (Huglo 1963: 67).
