Connection with Brittany
Notes

Fischer (1988–91) assigned this MS to his group of Breton Gospel-books (with the siglum Bv), and an ascription to Brittany was also proposed by Bischoff in Kat. §6411, with a suggested dating to '(IX./X. Jh. oder) X. Jh., 1. Hälfte.' The study of the evangelists' portraits in this MS is inconclusive in relation to the issue of origin (EBGB 15–23), as it can show at best the close dependency on iconographical models from Tours. Overall, a Breton origin seems possible, but remains to be confirmed. That the MS was brought to Italy (possibly to Perugia) at a relatively early stage is shown by the (fourteenth-century?) ex-libris on fol. 1r: Iste liber est Perusini de Guidalottis de Perusio.
