Notes

This Psalter reached England from Brittany, or perhaps from the exiled Breton community at Montreuil-sur-Mer (cf. Le Bourdellès 1995: 46; Lebecq 2015b: 168), during the tenth century (Lapidge 1992: 100, n. 24). The litanies at the end of the MS contain a section (fols 171r-v) listing numerous Breton saints, possibly pointing to a connection with the diocese of Léon (cf. Warren 1888; Duine 1922: 46–8; Lapidge 1991: 288–95; Simpson (McKee) 1999: 276; ILLB In36, esp. pp. 113–14). Interestingly, this 'Breton section' also lists a few Irish saints: Munna, Patrick, Colum Cille, and Columbanus.
