| Notes | A tentative attribution to Brittany is suggested in ASM 579 (§809.8). It is also worth citing Dumville's comments on this fragment: 'In general, the script of the Columbia leaf appears to be Continental and, specifically, Breton. It was no doubt part of a book imported into England in the tenth century. Such Insular features as it may be argued to contain can as well be explained by a Breton origin. Its majuscules cannot, I think, be paralleled in English manuscripts' (Dumville 1991: 44). |
