| Notes | This MS contains a fragment (4 fols) from a missal of undetermined origin, and without any musical notation. An ex-libris from the abbey of Saint-Melaine of Rennes can be read at fol. 101v (therefore lying outside of the missal fragment; Hic liber est sancti Melanii Redonensis cenobii. Si quis eum furatus fuerit, anathema sit. Amen); however, since this ex-libris is plainly late (13th-century?), it does not prove a Breton origin for any part of the MS (pace Huglo 1963: 62, 67, 75, and CMD VII, 566). The manuscript must have reached Le Mans from Rennes, but whether it was written at Rennes or somewhere else, we do not know. |
