| Connection with Brittany | |
| Notes | This manuscript was destroyed during the Second World War. It contained a copy of several chapters of the A-text of the Collectio canonum Hibernensis. Given the marked interest in the Hibernensis in Early Medieval Brittany (cf. e.g. the entries for London, British Library, Cotton Otho E.XIII; Orléans, Médiathèque, 221; Oxford, Bodleian Library, Hatton 42), and in view of this manuscript's Marmoutier provenance (and origin?), there is certainly a theoretical possibility that these contents were copied (or ultimately derived) from a Breton exemplar. The text of this copy of the Hibernensis may have been particularly close to that of Cambrai, BM, MS 679 (cf. Flechner 2019: I, 94–5). For a dating of this MS to the last quarter of the ninth century, cf. Dumville 1994: 93, n. 16. |
